Parish Nurses' Mission Statement

Called by God and guided by the Holy Spirit to nurture the spiritual, emotional and physical well-being of the members of our Parish Family.

St. Joseph Parish nurses provide a whole person health promotion disease prevention service with an emphasis on spiritual care.  Our parish nurses act as: Integrators of health and faith, health educators, personal health counselors, referral agents, developers of support groups, trainers of volunteers and health advocates.

This program connects to our Homebound Ministry in the parish.  Our homebound parishioners are called once a month to check in with them to see if they are in need of anything.  This allows us to see how folks are doing and if they would like a visit from Father or an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist to bring communion once a month.  It is a wonderful outreach for our parishioners not able to come to church.

This also connects to our Prayer Shawl Ministry.  Members of the parish gather, pray and knit or crochet prayer shawls.  They are then given to those who are in need of emotional, physical or spiritual healing.

If you have a family member who has been hospitalized or someone who is homebound or in a nursing care facility, please call the parish office (860) 583-1369 and let us know.  You may also request a prayer shawl to bring to them.  It is our hope to keep everyone connected to the Parish Family of St. Joseph.
